Installation of D2SE Modplugins

This are the instructions how to install or remove D2SE Modplugins. Modplugins are mods that are modified for the player to be easy-playable using D2SE. Modplugins do not change your basic D2 installation, so you can play on official bnet without worries (starting the usual game.exe). Another important thing to know is, that with D2SE every modplugin has its own SAVE folder INSIDE the plugins folder for your savegames. Logs and Screenshots are saved there too. Modplugins do NOT use the usual SAVE folder inside your D2 folder. Installing the modplugins is easy - you just have to to extract the files into mods-folder of your D2-installation (which was created by D2SE), thats it. After extracting the modplugins there will be an own folder for each mod inside of the mods-folder.

The best start is to control if the MODS folder inside your D2 folder really exists. If not please install D2SE Modmanager. HERE (http://snej.org/forum/index2.php?topic=18954.msg459574#msg459574).

Dies ist eine Anleitung wie man D2SE Modplugins installiert und auch wieder deinstalliert. Modplugins sind Mods die so angepasst wurden das sie für den Spieler ganz leicht unter D2SE zu benutzen sind. Modplugins verändern nichts an der D2 Basisinstallation und können so bedenkenlos gespielt werden obwohl man nebenher noch im offiziellen Bnet spielt (mit der normalen game.exe!). Noch eines ist sehr wichtig, unter D2SE bekommt jedes Modplugin ein eigenes SAVE Verzeichnis für Spielstände IM Ordner des Plugins. Logfiles und Screenshots findet man dort ebenfalls. Modplugins benutzen NICHT das normale SAVE im D2 Ordner! Die Installation eines Modplugins besteht im Endeffekt nur daraus das man das Modplugins IN das MODS Verzeichnis welches der D2SE Modmanager bei der Istallation erzeugt hat entpackt, das wars. Das Verzeichnis des Mods selber ist im Plugin enthalten.

Am besten kontrolliert man also erstmal ob dieses MODS Verzeichnis im eigenen D2 Ordner existiert. Wenn nicht bitte HIER (http://snej.org/forum/index2.php?topic=18954.msg459634#msg459634) D2SE Modmanager erstmal installieren.

All D2SE Modplugins are selfextracting 7-Zip files, so you need no special program to extract them.
Alle D2SE Modplugins sind selbstextrahierende 7-Zip Dateien, so das man kein spezielles Programm braucht um sie zu benutzen.

Navigate on your workplace to the folder where you downloaded the Modplugin, the filename should end with _sfx.exe. Execute it by doubleclicking it.
Über den Arbeitsplatz in den Ordner wechseln in den man das Plugin heruntergeladen hat. Der Dateiname sollte am Ende _sfx.exe lauten.
Diese Datei mit einem Doppelklick starten.

Select the destinationfolder by clicking on the Button with the 3 points on it.
Den Zielordner auswählen indem man auf den Button mit den 3 Punkten klickt.

Navigate to your D2-Installation and select the MODS folder inside your D2 Folder. Confirm this by clicking "OK".
Navigiere nun zu deiner D2-Installation und wähle den MODS Ordner. Anschliessend mit "OK" bestätigen.

Check again if the correct folder is chosen and click on "EXTRACT".
Kontrollieren ob der Ordner übernommen wurde und auf "EXTRACT" klicken.

The installation will continue automaticallay - just wait till it's finished. When finished the window disappears.
Im folgenden Fenster kann man zusehen wie die Mod extrahiert wird, nach erfolgreichem entpacken verschwindet das Fenster kommentarlos.

Now you can check the MODS folder for the existence of the Pluginfolder you just installed.
Man kann sich nun vergewissern ob sich das Verzeichnis des eben entpackten Plugins IM MODS Ordner befindet.

The next time you launch D2SE Modmanager your Mod appears in the list and is ready for action.
Beim nächsten Start vom D2SE Modmanager taucht dort wie von Geisterhand das installierte Modplugin automatisch auf und ist sofort einsatzbereit.

All Mods have one thing similar, the way they are installed - just use the method descriped in the first post of this thread.

THEN post into this Topic. Tell me who you are and what is your concern so we can get in contact.

If you want me to add the Mod to the list of supportet ones, try to make a plugin according the D2SE Documentation for Modders. When you have problems with this write me a PM so i can help you. When you did this, give me the plugin so i can verify its 100% working and wellconfigured. AFTER i tested it i will add the Mod to the list in one of 2 Ways that YOU decide.

1. I will add it to our Mainmirror Pulseone and link directly to the download so actively doing the hosting for you.

DANN poste in dieses Topic. Sag mir wer du bist und was dein Anliegen ist damit wir in Kontakt kommen können.

Wenn du möchtest, dass die Mod in die Liste der Plugins aufgenommen wird, versuche ein Plugin entsprechend der Anleitung für Modder zu erstellen. Wenn du Probleme damit hast, schreib mir eine PN damit ich dir helfen kann. Wenn du das getan hast gibst du mir am besten das Plugin, damit ich kontrollieren dass es zu 100% läuft und gut konfiguriert ist. NACHDEM ich es getestet habe, werde ich es auf eine von 2 Arten, die DU auswählst, zu der Liste hinzufügen.

1. Ich werde es auf unseren Hauptserver Pulseone hochladen und es direkt verlinken, also direkt das Hosten für dich übernehmen.

Lastly and most of all thank you Seltsamuel  for this awesome Mod managing tool.  It brought me out of my D2 retirement.  I played since D2 first came out until about 1½ years ago.  Now I can't wait to play since I don't have to choose 1 mod over others because they require a special install and version.  I think anyone that has any desire to play D2 mods should be required to have this tool.  Thanks for your dedication! ;)

als erstes...habe alels mods im mogmanager die einzigsten die mir persönlich gefallen sind median und blazing fire
und netherworld :)

die restlichen sind fast alle sp ^^ und ich bin eher der mp typ :D

ich habe noch eine sehr interessante mod gefunden naja eig sind es zwei einmal maddnes und 32playermod ;D
vllt kannst ja was damit anfangen :) natürlich sollst du dir zeit lassen steckt ja immerhin viel arbeit drinen was du hier so leistest müsste man auszeichnen ;)

freu mich wenn du es iwann hinbekommst nen blazingfire server zum laufen zu bringen habe gestern mit nem kumpel per hamachi gespielt über tcp/ip aber z uzweit ist es auch net gerade toll^^ blazing fire ist ja auch eher ein pvp mod oder? :)

und das mit DA viel erfolg :) hoffe es wird was

von Kingpin habe ich zu DA noch nichts neues.. das Plugin wirds erst mir der neuen Version geben.. und wie lange sowas dauert weiß man ja.

Zu anderen Modplugins .. muss ich sehen wann ich wieder Zeit dazu habe .. ich hab grade einen neuen Job und man kann sich bestimmt vorstellen das es da zur Zeit dann andere Prioritäten gibt..

Also bevor das Forum down geht, geht eher die Welt unter:P. Das DA Plugin kommt erst mit der nächsten Version von DA, hatte Seltsamuel ja geschrieben und die sind im Moment noch in der Beta Phase für Akt wenn ich mich richtig erinnere.

Ich warte allerdings auch noch auf ein Aftermath Plugin:P. Also immer mit der Ruhe. Du kannst mir ja nicht erzählen das du schon alle Mods ausgiebig getestet hast.

Viva X Files gibt es z.B. noch, findest du im Mod Forum von Indiablo, da findest du wenn du dich etwas umschaust auch noch mehr andere Mods.

Jo ich wollte mal fragen also normal komme ich mit allem alleine kla, ey aber Diablo will mich wirklich fertig machen:( Ich krieg median XL für MP ans laufen alles kein ding, aber was ist mit den anderen Mods wie krieg ich die denn bitte in den Modmanager? schon mehrmals in die Ordner installiert als auch kopiert... nix.... wenn ich das game aus dem Manager starte stürzt das spiel bei etwa 3von10 startvorgängen ab...

Und noch eine ganz wichtige frage bevor ich jetz weiter rum bastel, wie läuft das ab

Ich fange also jetzt einen neuen Char an... und mit diesem einen einzigen Char spiele ich alle Mods durch? Oder fange ich für jede einzelne mod neu an?

Und wie switche ich vernünftig zwischen patches als auch den mods? Und falls ich sogut wie jede Mod mit neuem Char spielen muss, bitte empfehlt mir die größten und besten Mods, hauptsache neue items monster skill level usw... davon brauch es einfach viel damit ich nicht 500x das gleiche spiele denn wie ihr wisst wirds auf Alptraum erst intressant^^

Du musst für jede Mod nen neuen Char anfangen.

Beim Starten von D2SE einfach ne andere Mod anwählen. (Kann dir grade keinen Screen machen, da ich auf meinem neuen PC noch kein D2 installiert hab :()

ok etwas enttäuscht aber wenn du mir die nächste frage noch beantwortest dann gehts mir wieder gut...

gibt es irgendwo eine liste, von den Mods die hier drinn sind, wo auch bei steht was denn genau alles eingefügt und verändert wurde?

Ich will z.b. sehr viel aus Median XL Omega haben find das geil so seine Items zu verbessern usw.... die große Kiste neue Monster ganz neue Dungeons und viele viele Items etc das ist mir alles wichtig, und ich will dann nicht ne neue mod spielen wo nur 2 items 1 dungeon und 4 items neu sind....

die gegner sind so dermaßen sau leicht ich renne nur dadurch und zauber mir mit meinem Barbar den weg frei, meine mana geht eig nie zu ende wieso weshalb warum? keine ahnung die lädt sich irgendwie einfach auf und irgendwie find ich keine beschreibung zu der benutzung der neuen sachen von Median Omega XL weis da jemand rat?

Bei dem neuen Median XL 2012 steht im Menü hintergrund immernoch 2008 oderso und wie finde ich jetzt heraus ob der mod auch läuft? weil ist ja eig der gleiche nur wieder noch mehr items monster usw???

PS: au mann hast du das selber mal gespielt? den Median XL mod?? Droppst du auch so viel das es schon mehr ein handelsspiel ist?

the dificulty collection also exists in D2SE, you can choose between:
MOD=Easy
2st=Standard
3hd=hard

Thanks ki4m! at least 50% resolved (i alwais thinked that was a language feature related). i asked for a separate gamble filter in mod forum, for now i'm playing with d2se using a clean installation of BFE in my diablo folder for gambling.

Hi,

i will update the Median plugin tomorrow.
Regarding the BFE features, i know of this and im implementing access to the tools as soon as i have the time to do so. I personally see the gamble filter as not really important or should i better say a little bit like a cheat?
Anyway i will make it accessible as it belongs to the mod.

Hi,

the hires mod is what it says, something added to a mod .. nothing that D2SE has to handle, especially as the Mod must be prepared to use the higher sightradius. Additionally it is version dependant.

For Netherworld rises there surely will be a new plugin.

Edit: Earlier today, I spent an hour trying to make things work by taking a fresh D2Client.dll file and injecting it into the 1.10f core. I re-installed several times, trying to make PlugY work witout complaining about D2gfx.dll (Library something.) And all it took to resolve the Deckard Cain crash, was to restart the computer. Boy, am I stupid.

Das wäre aber sehr schade, gibt genug Leute die  noch D2 zocken , ausserdem sind auch noch Mods in der Entwicklung soviel ich weiss.

Diablo 2 wird nicht so schnell sterben und ich hoffe der Modmanager auch nicht

Hi, I was thrilled to find this site because the D2SE mod page here is so updated with many mods.  I had originally downloaded the D2SE engine from phrozen keep but is missing many of the newer mods posted here. If you are indeed the maker of the D2SE software then you my friend are a genius! and Im so appreciative of having it to add d2 mods easily. Thank you very much!!!
Also one mod I downloaded a while back (hell on earth) is missing a readme file and I cant find cube info on it anywhere as it seems to be unsupported now. If anyone had cube recipes on this mod I would appreciate any info as it is quite an old mod.  Im trying requiem of sorrow right now and enjoying the extra skill tree. So many great mods to try and my son plays also.  Thx again!!!

You are welcome,, yes the PK isnt updated with all mods because i have to obeye their realmrules and it was a hard fight to convince them to allow me to post about D2SE at the keep at all. So all mods that have the smallest sign of realm inside are not posted on PK.

With Diablo 3 being such a disappointment I hope to see some new good mods come out.  A couple of guys Hades and Ace over at  The Temple of Zakarum have a server running 4 mods.  I'd love to see you Seltsamuel and them work out something.  They developed their own loader but I love D2SE and have their mods working with it.  The only problem is the failed check sum values when you try to log into their servers through D2SE.  I'm sure there are players here that would enjoy playing on these servers also.

Oh yeah also I remember trying to talk Onyx into working with you getting Back to Hellfire working with D2SE.  I was warned about violating the T&A because I showed the ini text and it had the word realm in it even though I left the fields blank.  That was way back when D2SE first came out.  They don't play around there at all.  I'm sure they have good reason also (remember the reverse engineering lawsuit).

Hi and welcome here.

The checksum problem is not really one of D2SE .. but of the D2 game mechanics..
The checksum is calculated from d2client d2game and some other .. when im right bnet .dll files IN THE MAINDIRECTORY OF D2 and not the selected mods folders! Thats the problem and issue. I will try to fix the calculation routines to pick the right files .. but until then you only have to put the right files into mainfolder of D2 to pass the realmcheck! OR the realmhoster has to add checksums for all available D2 Versions to pass through ..  thats simple a matter of realmconfiguration and not a problem of D2SE in first instance.

Regarding Onyx .. yes he gave permission now to fix his broken files and add BTH to D2SE .. its solely a matter of my really limited time that nothing happened regarding this .. but i really had no sparetime to do anything for modding the last months... i hope this will change soon .. and the good thing is i have all time of the world as im not planning to quit modding of D2.

Temple of Zakarum is free to contact me anytime when they need help.. beside of this im planning to change the realmfeature of D2SE drastically with the next version so the mod and the realmfiles get seperated and multiple realmsupport is enabled. This way i can use the same modfiles for my distribution AND the PK and just have to add really small downloads for the realminformation.

for what i could see its only a x2 rates dropmod and they propagete hacks.. so i do not think its worth adding a plugin for this.

Pretty much all it is is vanilla Diablo with x2 exp with greatly increased drop rates...  All the buying stuff is just to help them keep their server and all of which can be found very easily.  However, they have a wonderful staff, of which one of them are on at all points during the day.  I do still prefer Snej but it's nice to take a break and go back to the Roots of it.  With some minor tweaks of course :P

sorry but this has nothing to do with modding and beside of this its hosting the vanilla game and as such is even for this old game really a risky thing as blizzard has a real active legal departement especially when money is earned its even in germany forbidden. Additionally they promote hacks and cheats and im not interested in supporting them. This here is a modding community and i want to keep it this way.

There is a mod out there called D2 Scrabble, which contains a d2se setup, which is all well and good, but I can not get it to run and wondered if you would take a look to see what i am missing, any time in the next millenium will do :)  as I appreciate how busy you are especially as you are due to release 2.3 which I wait for with baited breath.

I want to ask a few questions and i hope that this is the right place.
1st. I was unable to install Diablo 2 Eastern Sun on my own, so i guy from the Phrozenkeep forum told me that if i visit this website and install D2SE, i might be able to do it. I did everything right and i was able to play ES with D2SE + MOD ES R6D. But now i have another problem. In version R6D a lot of things are fixed and for a lame layer like me it is devastating. I like to stick on the gambler for unique and set items and have a vendor reduce by 70% as a paladin skill. So i want to ask this thing: is there a chance that you make a MOD with this database: DATA (http://homepage3.nifty.com/miyoshino/oldes/es3set.htm)
I have found this database in a local website and when i installed it i had a lot of probems - game crashes, resolution problems, sound problems .... So i want to have it as a D2SE MOD.
I see that this is a german speaking forum. So you may answer in german. I`ll be able to understand what you have written.

SeltSamuel, the Blazing fire mod listed on this is far out of date, they moved on to "Trance Mod" while it is still being worked on at Blazinfire.com the server will not let me download it and as far as i can tell its not for D2SE If possible, could you make it into a D2se Plugin?

Btw. you should be able to create D2SE plugins by yourself aswell. (its not "official" then though)
its not really complicated, and i think Seltsamuel even wrote a short instruction on how to do it somewhere if i remember right.

Hey guys! Eastern Sun doesn't work with PlugY when installed the normal way. I think it's because the version of PlugY that comes with D2SE doesn't work with eastern sun. Here's how to get another version in there and working:


 * 1) Install D2SE
 * 2) Get ES R6E Com4.1N from [snej](http://snej.org/forum/index.php?topic=18504.msg458514#msg458514 (http://snej.org/forum/index.php?topic=18504.msg458514#msg458514))
 * 3) Copy `d2gfx.dll` from `\D2SE\CORES\1.10f` into your ES directory (should be `\MODS\ES R6E Com4.1N`)
 * 4) Download [PlugY 9.0](http://d2mods.info/filecenter/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1531&sid=1b831b0389ec89039f1629b5f43d4fcc (http://d2mods.info/filecenter/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1531&sid=1b831b0389ec89039f1629b5f43d4fcc)) and extract it into your ES directory
 * 5) Run "PatchD2gfxDll.exe"
 * 6) Start ES normally, but disable PlugY from the D2SE launcher. The game will run with PlugY since it's patched in manually.

It does not. I tried this from the suggestion of others, as did my friend. This is the only method either of us have gotten to work. I assume the nature of the incompatibility has more to do with d2gfx.dll than it does PlugY.dll.

Hello, I'd love to have the latest version of Immersion mod, already tried to make one myself but the mod is so heavily coded that I've had to give up...,
I've tried everything I can think of but it just won't work, the best I can do was making Necromancer playable but for some reason I can't talk to most of the npcs, their dialog boxes just won't pop up -_-

I know you're currently busy with rl but please consider do it if you have some free time since I don't think the author will release any new version anytime soon...

I'm not saying it is impossible, but I tried this dead mod a couple years ago and couldn't get it to work properly with D2SE either.
Like you said, likely due to heavy code edits, and external dependencies

I too thought it was a good mod, but unfortunately it seems that the author has abandoned it.

I just tried the new version, everything look great so far, only one thing... I couldn't run glide in window mode..., already tried -w, and yep -3dfx also didn't work -_-
Are there any other ways?

as stated inside the D2SE license you are allowed to host unmodified files so feel free to download and host the files ... but please keep in mind that its just better to simply link to my sections here as soon there will be updates on D2SE and all modplugins .. as soon as the next version is ready .. the documentation will also be subject to updates then. also wanted to restart Eastern sun after long absence..I followed the instructions on page one with the mod manager. Got ES and also followed the remarks on page 5 (plugy 9 etc..).
Still starting the mod through modmanager nothing happens..even if plugy is disabled.
Could anybody help me? So excited to start again..
I'm using Windows 10 with a fully patched d2 version..

nah just kidding, I was merely wondering what I would do about the following issue with Eastern Sun:


I'm using D2SE Version 2.2 from SneJ Site & the ES Plugin from the Subsite. I However only get 1 Skillpoint for Akara, Radament, and 2 from Tyrael.
With the original ES it's 2/2/4 so I would be missing out on 12 Skillpoints.


I also tried using a character editor to just add 12 Skillpoints to the charakter but Jamella and Hero Editor both kill the character (gotta love backups).


Furthermore: I'm using Full Downloaded D2 Version (Clean Install) and my temperings are a plugin that makes Charsi sell Maples as well as AlphAs drop-changings.

As a possible fix, you can try adding QuestSkills to UTILITY section of d2mod.ini
Alpha only listed the following from Utility section:

For some reason the ES D2SE plugin doesnt has it. I probably have used that D2Mod.ini as a base resulting in the loss. I personally don't really see the extra Skillpoints as necessary. I'll add it into the next plugin so there won't be any further probels.

Hi,

no im talking about the ES Version running on realm .. at the top of the list where the realmmods can be downloaded.

The other Plugin you are refering to is a code edit stripped ES version that formerly was used on D2M .. because of MAC compatibility all code edits were removed. Because i do not care about MAC compatibility i used the latest Community Edition including all edits.

If I were to take a guess, you probably didn't set ModUseD2Mod=1, which would mean the ExtLvl.dll (extended levels plugin) wouldn't be able to run.

ModUseD2Mod=1 shouldn't be needed for mods who didn't supported D2SE before if it have the patched D2gfx.dll inside the folder.
Crashes can occour from the ExtLvl Plugin even when it's loaded, because it have some wired bugs which tend to crash from time to time.

that's not the correct value either. that's how the .ini need to be for have 10.200.000 on stash and the max gold on char

Does anyone know if this list has been updated anytime recently with newer mods? As far as I know, these seem to be the same mods that were available from this site 4+ years ago, but I know that mods have been continuing to be created. Does anyone have an updated d2se modplugin list?
